Your child may not be the biggest fan of their braces, but for most people, orthodontic treatment is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The holidays are the perfect time to commemorate this occasion by giving your child gifts that’ll get them excited about taking care of their teeth.

It can always be a little bit difficult to come up with stocking stuffers, especially for children with braces. If you can’t give them the usual caramels and candy canes, why not get them gifts that will make their orthodontic care easier? Here are a few stocking stuffers you could try.

An Electric Toothbrush

The idea of getting a toothbrush at Christmas may not sound very exciting, but nowadays electric toothbrushes can do much more than just vibrate. Even lower-end electric toothbrushes are meticulously crafted to maximize their ability to reach areas of built-up plaque, which can be an incredible help if your child has trouble brushing around their braces. Moreover, many toothbrushes can play your child’s favorite music, use timers that ensure they’re brushing for long enough, and even connect to an app that turns brushing into a game. A good electric toothbrush can transform nightly brushing from a tedious chore into something your child will be looking forward to.

Sugar-free Candy

Your child might be missing the candy they’d normally be able to indulge in this time of year. If that’s the case, you can always get them some sweets that are less likely to pop a bracket. Chocolate is a nice indulgence that’s soft enough for your child to be able to chew it easily. It also melts away quickly after eating, making it a little less likely to contribute to tooth decay. If your child can handle something bitter, dark chocolate with a lower sugar content can make a great stocking stuffer.

Customized Travel Dental Kit

One of the more difficult parts of taking care of braces is keeping them teeth clean when your child’s not at home. Thankfully, there are travel dental kits that contain everything they need, from flossers to dental wax. You can find dental kits customized to suit your child’s taste, whether it be a nice design or a print of their favorite character. And best of all, they’re the perfect size to fit in a stocking!

Braces don’t have to be boring. Take advantage of the holiday season to make orthodontic care a little bit more exciting for your child.
